Music

I study and play traditional American fiddle music, primarily from the Midwest. My approach is shaped by a deep respect for history and tradition and an appreciation for finding one’s own sound. I love this music. It is intimate, communal, and deeply affirming.

I have studied fiddle and banjo under Tricia Spencer (Lawrence, KS), BB Bowness (Boston, MA), Clarke Wyatt (Kansas City, MO), Laurel Premo (Traverse City, MI), and Jason Romero (Horsefly, BC) and have performed extensively at contradances in Kansas and Missouri. I most recently studied with mid-Missouri fiddler John P. Williams as an apprentice in the Missouri Folk Arts Program Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program.

I am also the organizer of The Oddball Hoedown, a queer-centered, gender-inclusive folk dancing series in Kansas City.
